Jürgen Veil, head of sheetfed offset marketing at the KBA facility in Radebeul, Germany, explained the press technology, the configuration details appropriate for UV production and the extensive possibilities for the printing of three-dimensional images on lenticular film. With the aid of various samples, he here pointed out the special technology considerations when dealing with flip images, morphing or 3D effects. John Ho also reported on the "vagaries of 3D printing" as experienced by his company in everyday practice, and offered numerous useful tips.
Subsequently, the guests were treated to a live print demonstration in the production centre at e-Best Digital Limited, where the recently installed six-colour KBA Rapida 105 universal with UV capabilities turned out a stream of high-quality 3D images. Both the e-Best crew and the visiting KBA specialists were kept busy answering a flood of questions from the audience.
