Visy has launched Visy Green Office, a new environmental programme to give staff knowledge and skills in order to improve environmental performance.

The Visy Green Office programme gives staff tips on reducing their environmental impact around the office, from reduced paper use to more sustainable catering. This is a crucial step to ensure there is a strong focus from all staff to reduce environmental impacts in all activities, according to the company.

Developed over three months in conjunction with environmental advisers and building management groups, the programme will be available publicly in the near future as Visy says it is keen to share its knowledge and advice to assist others with environmental improvement.

Also last month the company held its climate change week where it supplied all its sites with a short presentation and toolbox talk on what climate change is and what staff aan do to reduce greenhouse emissions.

Visy also offered a grant of up to $4000 for nay Visy employee who is directly involved in a community group and has a project such as reducing energy consumption, increasing recycling or installing solar heating.

The company concludes its approach to reducing greenhouse emissions is to reduce energy consumption, be more energy efficient, produce and use renewable energy, use alternative transport fuels, divert waste from landfill and increase recycling.
