Visy has appointed a new group environment and sustainability manager, Ros Dent replacing the group environment manager Nick Harford. Reporting to Tony Gray, director of sustainability at Visy, Dent will be responsible for the company’s internal management system as well as helping customers to achieve their goals.

Dent joins Visy after a 13-year career working with the McDonald's restaurant group where she was Environment Manager for McDonald's Australia and NZ, the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. She sat on McDonald's global environment council and on its worldwide sustainable supply chain committee, which has only five representatives globally.

She was previously on the board of the Buy Recycled Business Alliance of Australia, a not-for- profit organisation dedicated to encouraging businesses to buy and use recycled content products and materials.

Tony Gray says, “Ros will bring a wealth of experience and a strong market-focussed perspective to Visy's significant environment and sustainability activities at a time when sustainability is growing in importance for Visy and our customers.”

According to Gray, Dent will be the public face of Visy’s environmental stance, with the company’s environmental team reporting to her. She will hold a strong customer focus as well as the company’s sustainability programmes.

Gray adds, “She will be in charge of the company’s internal environment management as well as increasingly consulting with customers to help them reduce their carbon footprint through environmentally sustainable packaging.”
