Visitors to the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) Victorian branch’s technical evening in April will see the launch of the AFGC retail ready toolkit and a presentation from international speaker, Allessandro Bello from GEA Procomac.
Allessandro Bello, area manager, GEA Procomac will be flying from Singapore to present a paper on aseptic cold filling of PET bottles for high and low acid products.
Also at the event, Samantha Blake, director of supply chain and retail policy, Australian Food and Grocery Council will be finishing off the successful roadshow that has seen the launch of the new retail ready toolkit to AIP members and colleagues in New South Wales and Queensland.
Since the development of the Retail Ready Packaging - A Focus on Shelf Ready Packaging an Industry Toolkit in 2006 significant changes (such as global economic slowdown; commodity price increases; focus on sustainability; expansion of discount retail outlets; oil price peaks etc) have taken place in the Australian markets, according to the AIP.
The Association continues that in responding to these changes the guidelines have been updated and continues to work with retail and supplier organisations to ensure alignment where possible is achieved. Samantha’s presentation will provide an overview of the updated guidelines along with an assessment of the work currently underway with retail trading partners.
The third speaker for the evening will be Phillip Higgins, innovation and development manager for Techline. The AIP says Higgins has created and assigned 23 patents and introduced more than 100 products into industry and is a high performance, results-driven product design and packaging engineer.
Higgins will provide a presentation on plastic closures in the beverage industry with a focus on how to correctly specify a closure including details on what impact the features of a closure will have in the beverage segment.
The dinner will be held on Thursday April 8 at the Box Hill Golf Club.
