Gidue has entered the food flexible packaging segment following this year’s drupa, which the company says confirmed its role as technological driver among narrow and mid-web press manufacturers. At the show, Gidue launched UV Flexo for Food Packaging , which it says will change flexible film packaging printing in the food sector.
The company says the launch was part of a new strategy focusing on the reinforcment of its presence within the packaging sector, which allowed it to work closely with the most importanat names and brands of the packaging industry.
At drupa Gidue’s booth displayed two machines, the Athena and Xpannd, which the company says were showcased successfully, with a number of sales being finalised at the show.
The Xpannd, a hybrid flexo/offset/silkscreen machine - featuring high-end converting capabilities, was shown with up to 13 in-line stations – representing the answer to the need for all-in-one-pass, in-line printing, which is typical of the wine, oil, food and cosmetics label sectors.
According to Gidue, the second machine displayed at drupa, the UV flexo sleeve press Athena, represents the ideal, and most sustainable solution for printing flexible packaging and shrink sleeves for the food, beverage and cosmetics sectors.
Athena provides high flexibility and productivity in short and medium runs, becoming an answer to the emerging needs of the flexible packaging industry - traditionally using solvent rotogravure and central drum presses.
Federico d’Annunzio, president of Gidue says, “This edition of drupa was the occasion to demonstrate all the advantages of our intelligent UV solutions, flexo or offset, both digitally controlled. High productivity, flexibility and speed, combined with a high level quality.”
He concludes, “Thanks to the continuous innovation improving our solutions and also thanks to the fruitful partnership with big names of the label and packaging sectors, the converters can now print increasingly more attractive, but also sustainable, products.”
