Founder of tna among top 100 engineers for 2009

Alf Taylor, founder of packaging solutions company tna, has been named one of Australia's 100 most influential engineers of 2009 in the June edition of Engineers Australia. The list, published annually, identifies the country's leading engineers in academia/research, associations, consulting, engineering expertise, industry, public service and politics, according to tna.

Packaging Council elects new president

The Packaging Council of New Zealand elected David Carter, group environment and technical projects director Lion Nathan, as its new President, at its AGM last week. Also at the meeting, Melissa Hodd, executive director Foodstuffs NZ, was appointed vice president.

PepsiCo opens green plant in China

International food and beverage company PepsiCo has opened a green packaging plant in China. The company says it is the first plant of any kind in the industrial centre of Chongqing to comply with the rigorous sustainable engineering standards known as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), set by the Green Building Council.

One of the highlights at the Carter Holt Harvey stand during Auspack was the Kliklok Certiwrap C150 wraparound cartoner, which is built to handle a wide variety of items including ready-meal trays, tubs, and many other rigid containers, according to the company.

Label manufacturer Label Power has launched the VP485 Industrial Colour inkjet and label printer.
