Sustainable coding solutions and intelligent solvers that minimise environmental impacts will be showcased at Auspack 2009, according to organisers.

Solutions include new lasers to be showcased by product identification manufacturer Markem-Imaje, which offer sustainable coding solutions without the cost of consumables.

The company says its new laser range series does not require external cooling or refrigeration and can work continuously at temperatures up to 35 degree making them more energy efficient as well as lowering the cost of operation. The high power vector technology is well suited for printing onto substrates such as inked paper, painted metals or glass.

Also at the show, Matthews Intelligent Identification will be exhibiting its new Linz 6900 Solver CIJ printer which it claims provides controlled solvent usage lowering cost of ownership and minimising environmental impact.

The company continues that the Linx 6900 Solver uses software that measures how much ink is being returned from the print-head via the gutter line in real time, and the Solver's ink system dynamically adjusts the amount of suction applied to the gutter according to how much ink is being returned.

By using less solvent, the Linx 6900 Solver reduces raw material processing, packaging and transportation requirement, according to the company.

Phil Biggs, national sales and marketing manager for Matthews says that Auspack is a great opportunity for existing and new customers to evaluate the latest technologies they have on offer.

He says, “This year’s Auspack theme – The future of packaging and processing – fits the Matthews’ philosophy perfectly. We firmly believe less operational risk, higher reliability and lower cost of ownership are even more vital now and in the future, hence our focus on rapid response.”
