Those attending the Australian Institute of Packaging National Conference are encouraged to take advantage of early bird registration specials that end April 28. AIP national president George Ganzenmuller says the National Conference is designed to bring together the activities of food, beverage and packaging technologists as well as logistics experts in the investigation of future packaging solutions.

“Through attendance, participants will gain an increased awareness of the latest technologies and market trends to assist in more successful and timely technology change overs,” says Ganzenmuller. “This exciting event gives you direct access to industry players and is open to all interested parties from the packaging, manufacturing, food and beverage industries throughout Australia.”

By registering early, AIP members will only pay $550 (rather than $650) and non members will pay $650 (rather than $750). Registration includes entry to technical sessions, the trade exhibition, lunches, morning and afternoon teas, and conference notes.

Some of the topics for the technical sessions include retail issues, the development of sustainable packaging, high impact consumer packaging design, sustainable and value added packaging, the environment, supply chain challenges, and packaging in the future.

Leading international academic and industry speakers are expected to draw a crowd. Among the noted speakers are Andrew Berger (vice president of Alien Technologies, UK); Dr Yan Xu (Grenidea, Singapore); Andy Sweetman (Innovia, UK); Dr Angelo Yializis (president of Sigma, US); and Andrew Streeter (director of CPS International). Among the local speakers are AFCG assistant director, Samantha Blake, and Rod Evenden, Woolworths senior business manager, grocery. More speakers will be released in the coming weeks.

The trade exhibition will give attendees the opportunity to discuss their own situations, ask about their client experiences, find out about the advances in technologies and what is around the corner, as well as share some recent success stories.
The AIP National Conference is being held at Conrad Jupiters at the Gold Coast on June 15 and 16.
