Swug conference draws record numbers

conference / seminar  SWUG

This year’s Swug New Zealand conference in Christchurch has received such a positive response that organisers have had to look across the road to accommodate delegates due there from August 15-16.

Dan Blackbourn, Swug New Zealand chairman, says, “With 126 delegates and sponsors registered for the conference, it is shaping up to follow on the successful conferences of the past. This number of attendees is a record for Swug New Zealand and shows the commitment to the industry from delegates and sponsors alike.”

The conference venue, Chateau on the Park, has filled up so organisers have advised delegates to contact neighbouring Towers on the Park Hotel for accommodation. Blackbourn says, “With the accommodation now booked out, the conference will be a welcome revenue generator for the city of Christchurch.”

The two day conference will feature world class speakers presenting on topics as diverse as the European heatset/coldest market, blankets, rollers, chemistry, inks, pre-press, drupa overviews, press installations, plate technology, OH&S, Training, Pride in Print, Newspaper circulation overseas and in New Zealand, two site visits (Fairfax site in Christchurch and Guardian Print in Ashburton) as well as special guest Todd Blackadder for the awards nights and great entertainment.

The conference has also attracted the support of a record number of sponsors including Gold sponsors Goss, Hostmann Steinberg, CPI Graphics, DIC, Bottcher Australia , Norske Skog Tasman, and DS Chemport; Silver sponsors Kodak Australasia and Oceanic Trading; and Bronze sponsors Muller Martini, Agfa Graphics, Green Graphics, Ferag, manroland, Webco, Ferrostaal, Plunkett & Johnson, Flint Group, Richard Carr, and technotrans.
