Keynote speakers Frank Romano and Robert McClements delivered powerful messages to delegates at PrintNZ’s Ink in Our Veins centenary conference.Although they were physically half a world apart, with Romano giving his address via digital link from his home in Rochester USA, both speakers stressed the importance of print service providers taking a wider view of the industry.
During his presentation ‘The Glocal Market for Print’, Romano recounted his recent world tour, travelling overseas by ship ecause he hasn’t flown in an airplane since 1973. He toured 33 countries, observing the similarities and differences in their printing industries.
One of his strongest messages to conference delegates, shared by McClements, involved printers looking at adding value to their services.
McClements took the message further, using statistics that illustrated the amount printers could increase their revenue streams by taking their business further. Sartorially, McClements reflected the global financial mood with a tie he claimed to have last worn on ‘Black Monday’ in 1987.
Introduced by representatives of major conference sponsors Fuji Xerox, Heidelberg, Hostmann Steinberg NZ and Spicers Paper, both keynote speakers received warm applause from an appreciative audience.
