PrintNZ’s fifth industry report, released just prior to Christmas, contains a comprehensive study of the printing and allied industries in New Zealand.

Dave McIntyre of PrintNZ says that the report will be of great practical use to members over the coming year. He says the kind of data included in the study provides a broad range of information on the printing and paperboard packaging industries in New Zealand including such things as charge-out rates, key financial indicators, current employment practices, wages, terms of employment, average profit margins and debt levels. All the details in the survey are available to members of PrintNZ.

The first half of the report contains the results of the PrintNZ’s 2008 survey and the second half, compiled by economic consultants Infometrics, contains analysis on a broad range of industry statistics.

Joan Grace, chief executive PrintNZ, said that the survey results are often referred to during wage negotiations and used as an information source when compiling reports for management in New Zealand and overseas. She said, “We at PrintNZ regularly use the information in this report when asked for data on the printing industry. Having this report available helps us to provide credible answers to support communication with government, other industry groups and the wider print-buying community.”

She expressed her gratitude to each member who took the time and effort to fill out the survey, and also thanked Wickliffe, Blue Star Print Group, Soar Print and Spicers Paper, whose help enabled the publication of the report.
