PMP New Zealand, the country’s largest commercial printing company, has completed its move to a purpose-built $20m super site at Enterprise Park, Manukau.
For the first time, PMP New Zealand has positioned its head office, printing plant and warehousing in one location. The company has retained its two other sites: the sheetfed and prepress business in Mount Wellington, and its print and distribution centre in Christchurch.
Craig Amos, executive general manager for PMP New Zealand says the move illustrates the company’s investment in the future. He says, “While we have built a new home for PMP in South Auckland, we have also transformed our structure to be more streamlined, integrated and customer focused, a transformation that will help us fulfil our position as a leader in value added marketing, printing and distribution services.
The new 29,000sqm building houses four presses, including a new 48 page press; a new computerised pick and pack system for magazine order processing; and a high speed mail inserter. It produces publications such as TV Guide, New Zealand Woman’s Weekly and Skywatch magazine. Over 300 publications will leave the site for distribution each week including catalogues for some of New Zealand’s largest retailers.
Amos concludes, “These big changes show how serious we are in repositioning our business so it stays ahead of others as the whole industry faces the inevitable challenges and opportunities of an increasing online world.”
