Kodak confirmed its interest in the New Zealand market with the visit of its managing director, Asia Pacific Region and President of Graphic Communications Group, Gustavo Oviedo.

Oviedo, the highest ranking Kodak vice president to come here, made it clear that the company intended to consolidate its presence in this country. He said, “We wanted to send a strong message to our customers and channel partners that we care about the market and putting everything in place for the New Zealand industry.”

He cited drupa as an example of how far the company has come in research and development, with so many new solutions on display, saying, “At drupa we showed, for the first time, our entire portfolio to the industry. In particular, our new technologies for transpromo and data transfer were very well received.”

Based in Shanghai, Oviedo oversees operations in the Asia Pacific region with a workforce of five thousand people. He says that, while many of the markets need developing, New Zealand is a mature market and well placed to receive new technology and solutions. He stressed the need to understand the particularity of the market. He said, “It’s a process of communication. We want to offer the best solutions so we need to be flexible. We’ve seen interest from drupa and we’re looking forward to receiving visitors at PacPrint in Melbourne next May.”
