New Zealanders were among the guests at Heidelberg’s Cutting and Converting for Packaging and Print Open House, held at its Print Media Academy in Melbourne.

The visitors got a look at Heidelberg’s die-cutting and carton-making solutions, being among the first to see a demonstration of the Polar PACE automated guillotine and handling system.

Glenn Plummer, general manager product management and marketing at Heidelberg, said, “The response to the open house was very pleasing. Cutting and converting is a niche market. To see so many interested and enthusiastic participants is great, not just for us and our sales, but for the industry. You can tell it’s going to be a really good open house when, as soon as guests arrive, they head straight for the equipment and start looking around inside and asking questions.”

Other equipment demonstrations included the Varimatrix 105CS die-cutter, the Easygluer 100 folding box gluer and the Polar PACE system. Packaging printers saw, for the first time, Heidelberg’s entry level die cutting and folding box gluers in action.

Heidelberg followed the open house with one-on-one demonstrations where customers brought in their own jobs, or watched a pre-defined job run through the workflow. Plummer said, “The Melbourne PMA has become the industry’s premier supplier-based education, training and demonstration centre. Customers and industry associates have responded really well to the facilities on offer here.”
