Fuji Xerox continues DocuColor evolution

Fuji Xerox has announced the next generation machine in the DocuColor 12 ppm proofing family of machines.

The DocuColor 1257 GA provides both colour copying and printing and will achieve print speeds of 12.5 ppm in colour and 50 ppm in monochrome (A4 long-edge feed).

In addition to the machine’s high resolution of 2,400dpi, Fuji Xerox says the incorporation of a new image-enhancing technology generates smoother gradations and halftones as well as improving reproducibility of fine lines. The machine has been equipped with a paper tray for special A3-size sheets, which are frequently used for pre-print proof.

The company says it designed the DocuColor 1257 GA to meet advanced customer needs in the graphic arts market, where image quality is paramount, particularly to proof the final appearance and colour before printing.

Fuji Xerox also says the Xerox Print Server allows for true-to-life photo prints by incorporating a new algorithm to recognise and optimise skin tones for automatic compensation. Other functions include colour management, and network capabilities for use in various workflows. The company also says the servers will support all graphic arts customers’ proofing business.
