Digital Vision hosted the New Zealand launch of the HP Designjet L65500 printer in Auckland this week, highlighting the reduced environmental impact of the new press.

Les King, manager of Digital Vision, says the new machine offers a green option with a reasonable running cost. He says, “This printer brings all of the lovely things that you get with indoor water based inks to this kind of printing. The water based latex inks make it much more environmentally friendly. For instance, in the shop, the printer doesn’t require any special ventilation. Mainly though, printers will find that this is a very affordable machine to run.”

HP says the Designjet L65500 prints to a width of 2.6m with a speed up to 70m2/hr, and it can achieve 1200dpi print quality

Jeremy Brew, business development manager HP large format commercial printers South Pacific, sees the L65500 as a boon for large format print shops looking to save time and reduce the total impact of printing on the environment. He says, “The water based latex inks mean the printheads don’t need daily manual printhead maintenance. You don’t have to replace the ink as frequently, and the ink cartridge includes a recyclable container.”

Brew adds, “HP first unveiled the Designjet LS65500 at drupa last year and it has already chalked up good sales in Australia, so we’re very pleased to be able to bring it to New Zealand.”
