This year DIC New Zealand celebrates 100 years since the incorporation of DIC, and 60 years since the establishment of Coates in New Zealand.

So far, over 200 people have attended events held in Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington. At each event those attending received gifts to remember the anniversary, and spot prizes were distributed. The milestones were also marked in other centres such as Dunedin.

David Rands, regional managing director, said, “This represents a unique opportunity to celebrate the two landmarks with one event and we are delighted to do that.”

Guests viewed books published by DIC Corporation to mark its100 years, emphasising its global presence, under the title “Colour and Comfort by Chemistry.” In addition, the local team collated information on the early years of Coates in New Zealand, mainly from the annual Coates Group publication Drawdown, giving an insight into the local company’s development.

When asked if this was the end of the celebrations Steve Parker, the local general manager, said “No, we are planning an afternoon tea at our Penrose site in Auckland on Friday October 31 to which we invite any ex-employees to attend and meet with current or former colleagues. We would ask NZ Printer to help us get the word out about this – we know there are many out in the industry that once worked at Coates”
