When BJ Ball Group teamed up with PrintNZ to host a pink ribbon breakfast for breast cancer awareness at Sorrento Restaurant in Auckland this week, they received an enthusiastic response from members of the local print industry.
Joan Grace, chief executive officer of PrintNZ, encouraged the crowd to take a proactive approach to breast cancer. She said, “Everyone knows somebody who has a story to tell about this. We know the impact that breast cancer has on their lives and on our lives as we watch them deal with this disease. We can help them and we can help the researchers fight it. The message is that we can help ourselves with examinations.”
She thanked Lisa Hegh and Tania MacDougall from BJ Ball who instigated the event. Other sponsors included Fujifilm, Sonoco, Newton Cutting Forme, Visy Board, Wella, Fresh PR and Sorrento restaurant who provided the room.
While not promoted as a specific Women in Print event, the breakfast attracted mainly women but there were a handful of men who went along and got into the spirit of the fund raiser. Attendees purchased pink merchandise to raise funds and participated in some raffles for extra fund raising.
