Victoria's first Nuvera lands at Docucopy
Carlton-based Docucopy has become Victoria’s first printer to install the Xerox Nuvera Copier Printer. A long time Xerox user, with a DocuTech 6135 for black & white high volume and a DocuColor 6060 for colour, David Shandler, Docucopy owner, witnessed the Nuvera in action at drupa and fell in love with the output quality, purchasing one to complement Docucopy’s existing print capacity.
Shandler says he couldn’t be happier with the machine, saying, "The Nuvera was installed and printing jobs on the same day. I’ve had a lot of print technology installed over the years and this was the best and easiest. It’s hats off to the Fuji Xerox technicians.
"If anyone had said to me beforehand that comparing black on a DocuTech to black on a Nuvera would be so different, I would have disagreed. Black, after all, is black. But the quality on the Nuvera print is outstanding. It produces a very different black and white print indeed. In particular, the reproduction of grey scales, stipples and half-tones is stunning."
The Nuvera Copier Printer employs a range of technologies first designed for the Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press. As a result, it offers 4800x600dpi image quality, with 125 lines per inch half tone screens at 120 A4 impressions per minute. The Nuvera Copier Printer also features a 600x600dpi scanner with a 120 impression per minute scan speed.
It is compatible with 56-216gsm stocks, including bond, offset, carbonless, tabs, card stock, covers and recycled papers, which supports Docucopy’s staple of training manual and educational book production to a tea.
Shandler also opted for a professional finisher, so the Nuvera’s online saddle stitching means books can be run and finished quickly, reducing labour time and increasing productivity.
"We print offset colour covers, put them through the Nuvera with the text run and saddle stitch them," Shandler says.
