Two Aussie companies have taken out awards at the 2010 HP Indigo Digital Printing Contest, which aim to demonstrate commercial print innovation. Photobook specialist Picpress won the Special processes category while Group Momentum took out the Environmental impact award.

According to HP, the contest, which attracted 450 entries from customers in 37 countries around the world, recognises excellence and innovation in digital printing. A judging panel of third-party industry experts selected winners in six categories.

Commenting on the win, David Minnett of Group Momentum says, “We are thrilled to have received the recognition for the work we have produced for several of our valued clients. The team at Group Momentum work very hard to support our clients by producing the very best quality offset digital print product that we can.”

Meanwhile, Michael Warshall of Picpress says, “In the past two years we’ve been runners up in the HP Indigo Digital Printing Contest. It is fantastic to take out the first prize this year."

Warshall continues, “Before we moved into printing our business operated in the narrow market of professional photographic labs. In the photography market we’ve been a leader in the field and we are taking the same approach with high quality printing. This win reinforces Picpress’ place in the global print market as an innovative producer.”

Also at the awards, Sydney’s Momento Pro took out second place in the Photo-specialty category while Group Momentum was also placed third in the Direct Marketing and Transpromotional category.
