Signing onto Digital

signage  business planning  market trends  printing - digital
Auckland sign company, Signing On believes it is the first in the country to turn its full production system to digital. Director Jayne Hall says the switch from the ‘old style’ computer cut text to the fully automated digital print production system will benefit customers because it will cost less to produce signs. It will also give the company the ability to turn around large signage programmes in a fraction of the time it took previously.

Signing On has been researching the change for two years, waiting for the right equipment to be developed from printing to complex cutting devices in the super wide format.

The company now bases all its production work on the width of two metres.

It has named its new digital production department "Velocity" and Jayne says the whole process has changed the physical skill levels of the staff from the creative department through to sales and production.

Key production staff have been through a rigorous programme learning the art of building digital files, she says, and are now fully versed in the way it is done.
