An A3-Size Portrait Format 4-Colour Offset DI-Press with UV curing unit was announced at Igas 2003. The jointly with Presstek Inc developed machine has been added to with the UV-curing unit, as more and more customers demanded this feature, Ryobi claims. The UV-curing unit provides immediate drying of UV print materials and increases on-demand capabilities and can do UV printing on various special papers, this showing the flexibility of the press. The target market of the new configuration are commercial and label printing companies as well as prepress companies Ryobi says. It is using an exclusive waterless UV-curing ink, newly developed. The UV curing unit asopts a cold type system that generates verylow levels of ozone and less unwanted heat.

A plate cylinder section temperature control system, which detects the temperature at the plate cylinder by using a sensor and controls temperature of the plate cylinder section appropriately is unique to the 3404 DI with UV-curing unit. This is mounted on each tower to maintain stable printing quality, Ryobi says.
