Sydney-based PDQ labels has installed an Apex 1290 digital press at It's Ingleburn facility, owner John Bentham says the investment has given PDQ – which specialises in short to medium runs – the ability to remain competitive.
He says, “In recent times we have lost some of our competitive edge to other label companies who have a digital capability. This Apex acquisition gives his company the ability to compete in the digital market.”
John adds the press is well priced compared with other products on the market and its versatility means there is no need for specialised label material. He adds the machine's roll to roll and sheet printing feature has opened up new markets for PDQ. The APEX prints sheets up to A3 on a number of substrates including card.
He says, “We are a small, family-owned company and we just weren't in a position to go out and buy an expensive digital machine, but we knew we needed to be able to service this market. We've been looking at the options for the past 8 months and the APEX 1290 was by far the best buy.”
The press – manufactured by the Imaging Systems Group – Is designed with the user in mind, the Apex 1290 gives users the power to do more in less time; its controls are intuitive and easy to run for all users.
Meanwhile, John says, "We have been in the industry a long time but we are new to digital. We are a small company and in the past we have struggled to compete in the digital market, but with the new Apex we are not just staying competitive we are ahead of the pack.”
