Visitors to next month’s big international trade show Foodtech Packtech 2004 can now expect to see the latest technology from more than 200 organisations from New Zealand and abroad.
Extending through five halls at the Auckland Showgrounds exhibition center at Greenlane, the Show includes at least 18 overseas exhibitors from Australia, Japan, India and Saudi Arabia. This year’s event is tipped to be the biggest Show ever held in New Zealand for the food and packaging industries. Presented every two years, it gives management a convenient one-stop-shop where important technology is displayed and demonstrated under one roof.
Visitors will include technical, financial, corporate, marketing and purchasing personnel. Previous attendance of around 4000 industry professionals is confidently expected to be exceeded.
A highlight for visitors on entering the Show will be the New Product Showcase of some 50 notable exhibits. Sponsors for this feature include Competenz and the NZ Institute of Packaging.
Foodtech Packtech this year will showcase the 2004 Awards for Excellence for Environmentally Acceptable Packaging Entries by the Packaging Council of New Zealand who are once again proud to endorse the Show on behalf of its members and promote the 2005 Awards programme. The Council will also host a breakfast seminar with guest speakers on the 2004 New Zealand Packaging Accord – its progress and practical implementation. As the Packaging Council is an endorsing party, its members have been offered a 5% discount when booking their stand.
And in an exciting first, Foodtech Packtech will host the "Innovation Awards Breakfast" in conjunction with the NZ Institute of Packaging. The Breakfast will be jointly sponsored by Competenz and Industrial Research Ltd and presentation of the awards will take place on Wednesday 13 October at the Show.
The Awards is a biennial event which recognizes excellence in Packaging and Food Technology. Entry is limited to Foodtech Packtech exhibitors and covers three areas – 1) Packaging Components or Complete Product Package, 2) Packaging Process or Material and 3) Packaging Machinery and Food Components or Complete Food.
The NZ Institute of Food Science and Technology will also provide three food science categories as part of the Awards.
All entries will be displayed at Foodtech Packtech on the "Innovation Awards" showcase for the duration of the Show.
A unique large character coder which can print on to any surface – porous or non-porous will be launched at Foodtech Packtech by Tronics NZ. Claimed to be ideal for coding on to plastics and wood, this Marsh 320si system has been winning orders on world markets for 18 months and will be demonstrated live here for the first time.
Also launched at the Show will be an easy-to-use automated external defibrillator from St John. This state-of-the-art machine increases a person’s chance of surviving a sudden cardiac arrest and is very safe to use.
St John will be running live demonstrations of CPR using the Breath of Life manual resuscitator. The device comes fully assembled and ready to use by lay people and presents a simple alternative to mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Exhibitors and major purchasers are advised to look out for the Press Officers in attendance who aim to report important sales confirmed to the leading media. Advice on how to organize effective Show-related publicity will also be available.
This year’s Show will cover industries including beverage, pharmaceutical, medical, dairy, baking, frozen food, pet food and cosmetics. "With these sectors poised to make major purchasing decisions at Foodtech Packtech, can you and your staff afford not to attend?" asks Irene Smith, Show sales manager.
Foodtech Packtech runs from Tuesday 12 October till Thursday 14 October, open 10am – 6pm Tuesday and Wednesday, and 10am – 5pm Thursday.
Entry is free and open to those in the manufacturing, processing, distribution, retail, wholesale and produce sectors.
