Offset Alpine wins Sappi gold

Sappi  paper

Offset Alpine’s multi-award winning self-promotion book Capabilities+ beat off competition from three continents to take Gold in the Sappi Trading awards last night.

The Capabilities book is already recognised as one of the finest pieces of print ever produced anywhere, it has won a string of awards for the company both here and overseas, including three US Benny awards one of which was the 'Best of the Best'.

Offset Alpine was the only Gold winner from Australia, in an event which pits local printers against those from the other Sappi Trading regions of Asia, Central America and South America. The book will now go head to head with Gold winners from the US, Europe and South Africa.

The Sappi Awards evening brought together a host of printers, publishers and agencies from around the country. John Walker, managing director of Sappi Australasia told the assembled guests that print will always have a strong place in the communications mix.

Wayne Rau, CEO of Sappi Trading says, “Printed books and magazines engage the senses in a way that websites simply cannot match.”

Offset Alpine also took the Silver award for Magazines Web Offset. Other double award winners included Platypus Graphics which won Bronzes for in the Annual Reports and the General Print categories, Sydney Allen which took Bronzes in Books and in Calendars.

Wining single awards were Blue Star Print which was awarded the Silver in the Brochures category, Scott Print which took Bronze in Magazines Sheetfed, and Webstar, which took Bronze in the Magazines Web category.

No Australian printers won awards in the Catalogues, Digital Print or Labels & Packaging categories. Entrants had to enter work printed on Sappi stock.
