New standards in flexible CtP

product launch  drupa  CTP
Strobbe Graphics NV, since 2000 a member of Punch International, has been unveiling in Lier (Belgium) some of their new developments and equipment they will show for the first time at drupa 2004 in Duesseldorf. The "world class player in CtP design and structure", as the company claims themselves to be, has shown a selected group of 95 international journalists two new CtP-platesetters. With the PSA 33MV, a fully automatic platesetter with the unique ability to stock one or two different plate sizes per cassette, from 2-up to 8-up formats in as many as ten cassettes, Strobbe Graphics wants to set new standards in flexible CtP. The flatbed device, whose final design will be unveiled at drupa, equipped with a 30 mW (violet) laser (optional a FD-YAG 532 nm/150 mW- laser can be choosen) can output up to 25 plates/hour in sizes of up to 850 x 1050 mm at a resolution of 2400 dpi. For registration, the 3-point Flex register system is used.

Equally new is the semi-automatic PS 36, a brother of the above, which is loaded manually. The 8-up flatbed system uses either three-point-Flex register or customised pin register system.

The Optobend, a new semi-automatic bender, is another new device which will be presented at drupa. "It is the first multivariable bender out of our manufacturing that uses optical registration", Strobbe Graphics claim. Up to 42 preinstalled configurations with multiple angle bends can be used.

Drupa will see as well the introduction of the software tool "Gapfinder" by the Belgian company. According to Strobbe, the system can analyse each and every job for gab requirements and take the necessary steps to assure press compatibility without operator intervention. After separation, ripping according to the trap settings, the software processes the file and will add step and repeat assembly, gap repositioning or split gap imaging as well as register, scan marks and plate identification.
