The latest course on offer at the HP Scitex’s Vision Academy, provided in conjunction with colour management software manufacturers GretagMacbeth, has been hailed a success by its first attendees. The GretagMacbeth training course, which was held at the Academy’s Hong-Kong base, attracted experienced print professionals from Asia Pacific, reinforcing HP Scitex’s dedication to supporting its customers and print production in this region.

Arthur Kwok, director of sales at GretagMacbeth, says, “The Vision Academy offers highly skilled staff with exceptional technical expertise and a well equipped learning environment. These elements combined make the integrated training on the use of HP Scitex printers and GretagMacbeth colour management software possible.

“Colour management is a hot topic throughout Asia. It is a constant factor throughout the entire imaging workflow, meaning operators need to have a comprehensive understanding of this very complicated process, says Kwok.

“The GretagMacbeth training course at the Vision Academy provides the participants with the knowledge that will enable them to use colour management software to get the most out of their machines.”

The five-day course includes theory as well as practical modules, utilising the Academy’s extensive facilities. Attendees explore GretagMacbeth’s ProfileMaker software through in-depth tutorials, learning valuable skills such as how to edit ICC profiles.

The participants also get to put their new skills into practice, carrying out their own printer calibration and profiling exercises.
The course also gives the HP Scitex customers the opportunity to explore ways in which they can improve productivity in the workplace. Megan Ducis from Melbourne-based ABC Photosigns says

“This training has the potential to be extremely valuable to our company, both in terms of learning about the software and networking with other participants.”

Participants agreed that the course proved to be a perfect opportunity to increase their knowledge and skills, helping them to improve their company’s productivity and print quality.

One candidate, Wiley Tan from Kon Graphics, says, “The training will dramatically improve our workflow, making the process faster, and more accurate. It will help us to enhance accuracy in terms of colour, ensuring that we meet our customer’s needs.”

This collaboration between GretagMacbeth and HP Scitex is the continuation of a long-term business relationship between the two companies. Arthur Kwok said, “HP Scitex possesses some of the most advanced technology in terms of colour printing, while at GretagMacbeth we convert our in-depth knowledge of colour into workable solutions for the imaging industry. We believe that our relationship, and what we can learn from each other, brings better synergy and higher effectiveness to both companies, ultimately benefiting our clients.”

HP Scitex Asia Pacific is pleased with the success of the course: The GretagMacbeth training course is set to become one of the most popular at the Vision Academy. Like other courses (which typically run two or three times a month) it will be available to customers on a regular basis.
