Muller Martini Druckmaschinen GmbH will present new solutions for the mailing and packaging markets at its open house on October 25 and 26 in Maulburg, Germany. On both days, Muller Martini will show visitors what can be done with its web offset printing presses, featuring practical demonstrations on the Alprinta-V and the Concepta web offset presses. Each of the presentations will begin at 10:30am whilst manufacturing of the machines and final assembly can be closely examined during guided tours through the plant, starting at 1:30pm.
In the final assembly department, visitors will have the opportunity to view an eight-colour Alprinta 74V, ready for shipment and running production with several specialties for packaging printing. In addition, a Concepta with a QS52 sheeter, for printing advertising material and cut sheet products, will be demonstrated. Discussions focusing on individual problems and solutions will also be an important part of the open house event.
Alprinta-V: for the Flexible Packaging Market
With its well-known printing quality at low printing costs, offset printing has become an ideal complement to flexo and gravure printing, even for labels and packaging printing. Utilizing the infinitely-variable Alprinta-V web offset printing press, Muller Martini will demonstrate the options that web offset with UV drying offers today.
For the hybrid machines required in this segment, Muller Martini will present a newly developed flexo printing unit that is also infinitely-variable, like the offset printing units. While a size change on the offset printing units occurs by exchanging the light and easy-to-handle carbon cylinders, a different sleeve is merely pushed onto the air shaft in the flexo printing unit. Another highlight of the Alprinta-V is the new register controller, which is completely integrated into the machine control. This allows the machine to be thoroughly automated and the waste rate to be lowered significantly.
Concepta: with Semi-Automatic Plate Change
Quality and productivity in mailing and pharma-printing will be highlighted as part of the Concepta demonstrations. The semi-automatic plate change will also be demonstrated for
the first time, an advantage that clearly sets the Concepta apart from its competitors in this performance class.
A job change will be used to show how this and other innovations contribute to shortening job changeover time and reducing waste rates. During the job change, the job data will be accepted directly via a CIP3 link and preset for the machine.
In addition, a 100% printed image inspection system installed on the Concepta will demonstrate how quality can be monitored and documented at printing speeds up to 300m/min. This equipment brings advantages not only to pharma and label printing, but is also increasingly gaining interest for the printing of mailings.
