In a further sign of communication convergence the first ever video advert will be published in a magazine, with the September 18 New York and LA issues of US showbiz title, Entertainment Weekly carrying the video ads.

Using an LCD screen a similar size to a mobile phone screen, and with a resolution of 320x240dpi the video, which will feature ads by Pepsi, will automatically begin when the reader turns to that page.

The rechargeable battery can power the video for up to 70 minutes. The chip itself can hold up to 40 minutes of video. Americhip, the developer of video-in-print, has also created magazine technology that appeals to various senses, including smell.
