30 year anniversary: Cliff Brigstocke CEO of Ligare and the Opus Print Group
Ligare

Ligare, member company of the Opus Print Group, has celebrated 30 years in the Australian print market. The company began as a small hand binding company in a 200sqm facility in 1979 and has since grown into a full service specialist book printer covering 8000sqm at Riverwood.

Originally Ligare was meant to be a small business to undertake the hand binding work for the New South Wales Government Printer. The original owners intended to keep Ligare as a small business and purchased hand binding machines, a Smythe Cleat sewing machine, and a guillotine.

Today Ligare has grown to over 100 employees with three mono web presses, four sheet fed presses, two soft cover binding lines, one case binding line, one saddle stitch binding line and a full service digital print facility in its plant at Riverwood. It also has mailing and warehousing services for key clients.

Ligare says it can now produce any book or book-like product in-house in short-medium run lengths with a fast turn around, which allows its clients to deliver niche products, responding quickly to market needs at the time.

The company adds that it is also undergoing the Competitive Manufacturing Certificate III and IV; and has become a member of the Sustainability Advantage Program run by the New South Wales Department of Environment and Climate Change.
