The new system comprises of a Wohlenberg cut-tec 137 guillotine, with a complete Baumann handling system made up of a NUP1000 Pile Hoist, BSB3L Jogger, and BA3N Unloader, together with a Baumann model BSWe 3-1000 LV Pile turner.
Steve Larcombe, Lamb Print director, says that he is very happy with the new system, and that from the moment he began searching for a system he was drawn towards the solution from CPI.
"Wohlenberg has a very good name. The product was already in Australia so we were able to install it straight away, and the price was also right for us. It is a very well made system, easy to learn, and has been working virtually from day one," says Larcombe.
"This was an upgrade to our existing system. That part of our business was always what slowed us down. For delivery, it was definitely a bottleneck for us."
Lamb Print has always been a growing business, starting up with two staff in 1974 to currently employing 50 workers today. Now, with the addition of the new finishing system and the added efficiencies it has brought, Larcombe envisions further growth.
"We can now offer our customers faster turnaround. The efficiency has improved by 70 per cent over the original system, and we have been able to cut down overtime by over 50 per cent," says Larcombe.
"The thing is, you could buy a $2million press and it will improve your efficiency by around 20 per cent, but for a $300,000 investment, we were able to improve efficiency by 70 per cent."
