Three high-speed inline variable printing systems filled Kodak’s booth at Mailcom 2006 in Atlantic City. Attendees were offered a choice of scaleable, reliable solutions for quality direct mail personalisation and addressing, barcoding, numbering, graphics and logos.

Mailcom is the world’s largest convention for mail communications management.

Kodak’s exhibit showed the Kodak Versamark DS4350 UV, DS5240 and DS6240 printing systems. The Versamark D-series continuous inkjet solutions offer high speed, part page digital printing and can easily mount inline with web offset presses, collators, mailbases, folders, and a variety of other inline and offline equipment.

“Today’s mail communications management market demands solutions that provide quality, speed and flexibility in order to expand services and meet growing customer demands,” says Ron Gilboa, vice president Marketing, Transactional and Industrial Solutions Group, Kodak.

“Kodak’s Versamark D-series solutions address our customers’ needs by combining high throughput with quality printing and a low cost of operation.”

The D-series for high volume digital printing offers a broad range of printing systems with a comprehensive selection of printing features and functions to print variable information online or offline.

For reliable, high resolution, variable data printing on a wide variety of substrates, the Versamark DS4350 UV printing system provides a wide 6.5cm of print coverage in a single printhead, print speeds of up to 330 fpm and print resolutions of up to 300 x 600 dpi

The Versamark DS5240 printing system meets a wide range of variable data imaging application needs, and is ideal for barcoding, numbering, addressing, personalization and spot colour. The DS5240 is a 2.71cm digital system with speeds of up to 1000 fpm and resolutions of 240 x 240 or 240 x 480 dpi

The Versamark DS6240 system offers 10.84cm print width and resolution of 240 x 240 dpi at speeds up to 1000 fpm. The combination of speed, resolution and print width makes this device ideal for direct mail, transactional printing, forms, and other commercial printing and spot colour applications. Users can stitch up to four Versamark DS6240 printheads together for a total print width of 43.38cm.

Kodak’s inline variable printing systems are designed to allow users a high degree of flexibility when it comes to selecting a solution that fits their needs.

“Every customer faces unique challenges and seeks a personalized approach to creating new opportunities,” explains Gilboa. “The Versamark D-series systems give users maximum flexibility as to how they use it because the systems can be integrated into many different configurations.”
