Image Mart of Kingswood in Sydney's outer west has installed a TeckSmart UV curable printer from Positive Camtec.
The TeckSmart UV installation came soon after the installation by Positive Camtec of a new Roland Dye Sublimation system at Image Mart.
Image Mart principal, Shane Baldwin. placed his order in December last year for the new TeckSmart UVwhich had taken his eye at the Visual Impact Image Expo in Sydney earlier in the year.
Baldwin was impressed by the capabilities and versatility of UV curing technology: "Since I started in the sign industry my dream was to have a system that could print directly to the substrates I use every day: materials like acrylic sheets, foam board, corflute and Dibond paneling," explains baldwin.
“When I saw the UV printers at the show last year, I could see that my dream was finally a reality.
"After the Sydney show, I was talking to everyone about the capabilities of UV technology to get a feel for the opportunities in the market.
“I was overwhelmed by the response and by December I made the
decision that I couldn’t afford not to have a UV printer – it just made
simple sense," says Baldwin.
After scouring the show and comparing all of the models on offer, he compiled a short list that included two Teckwin offerings - the TeckSmart UV Hybrid Printer and the Teck UV Dedicated Flatbed.
After several visits to Positive Camtec’s showroom and discussing the options with product manager, Phil Trumble, Baldwin decided to take up the offer to print some “real-world” jobs using the Teckwin printers.
After a vigorous evaluation, he finally settled on the TeckSmart UV, primarily due to its small footprint, versatility and extremely competitive price point.
The TeckSmart UV was installed in late December and once the installation was complete it was put to the test.
The first run of corflute signs was completed with ease and Baldwin says it was a great relief to finally be able to complete the entire job inhouse, rather than contract out as he had done in the past.
“The high cost factor for screen printing short runs means that I can now bring these jobs inhouse and print them digitally on the TeckSmart UV, controlling the process from beginning to end," adds Baldwin.
“The TeckSmartUV is simple to use, easy to set up and produces excellent quality directly to the substrate - without the need to mount or laminate.”
The machine prints directly to most substrates up to 15mm thick and is supplied with a four- or six-colour ink system plus white ink as standard.
Ink is supplied via Teckwin’s bulk ink supply system and the TeckSmart UV offers a visible print resolution of up to 600 dpi.
The required print head height is detected automatically and the UV lamp temperature control and automatic shutters allow for printing onto delicate materials.
The system is supplied complete with everything a printer needs to be up and running quickly without expensive add-ons or hidden charges.
Image Mart is ready and able to accept bulk or trade enquiries.
