AUSPLAS, Australasia’s international plastics processing trade show, will be held on September 26-29 2005 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. First held in 1964, the show is a well-established trade event for the region’s plastics industry. Held every three years, AUSPLAS covers ‘traditional’ sectors of the plastics processing industry alongside newer areas of plastics packaging material and other semi-finished plastics products and applications. In a change from previous shows, the exhibition will run from Monday to Thursday (10am-5pm with late closing on Thursday). Four move-in days have been scheduled prior to the show, with the first day reserved exclusively for heavy equipment exhibitors.

AUSPLAS will feature major displays of plastics processing and ancillary equipment operating under factory conditions, alongside major presentations from international suppliers and distributors of plastics and rubber raw materials, master-batches and pigments. Specialty chemicals, elastomers, polyurethanes, fillers, recycling equipment and technology and finished products will also be featured. A large area will be set aside for ‘automation’, and planning is underway for a fully-automated production line featuring plastics automotive components assembly.

A new sector for chemical industry suppliers has been added, covering transport, bulk handling, distribution, packaging, coding, instrumentation, storage of hazardous goods, chemical/ polymer/pigments plant and equipment, OHS products-services, etc. with emphasis on the polymer/chemicals industry linkages.
