CPI took the opportunity at PrintEx03 to display its range of new products brought on board by the distribution agreements signed with Agfa, Screen and Hartmann Inks over the past several months, alongside products from its longstanding agreements with Komori, Wohlenberg and Morgana.
The display comprised of a total printing solution, beginning with the BlackMagic Digital Proofing System from Serendipity Software, which facilitates connectivity between the Harlequin rip and workstations, the server, and the Epson 7600UC proofer. The rip was used to send files to the Screen PlateRite Micra B3 CTP device, which was outputting Agfa Lithostar Violet LAP-V plates, processed through the Agfa LP68 plate processor. The processed plates were used on a Komori Lithrone L520 press, which was also receiving CIP3 information via the Harlequin rip to automatically set the ink duct profiles.
Printed work was put through the new Wohlenberg cut-tec 76 Guillotine, which features a more sturdy one-piece design for greater cutting accuracy as well as CIP3 connectivity.
Other finishing devices included the line of newly released Morgana folders. Both the Morgana DigiFold and Morgana Junior products made their debut at the show, although the DigiFold isn’t available for distribution until February 2004. The Morgana AutoCreaser was also shown, which provides creasing on thicker stocks without cracking the finished print.
The final item on display was a Bourg BookletMaker, featuring a new loading facility that provides 50 per cent faster loading.
According to CPI, a number of the Morgana Junior folders were sold, along with the Komori Lithrone L520 press.
