Bobst launched a series of new automated solutions at drupa, which the company says will ensure it remains as the benchmark in packaging finishing.
Among its new developments was a new generation Expertcut 106 Per die-cutter, which featured Smart Feeder II and a one-touch setting feature for the non-stop grid. Bobst says that improvements on the machine reduce the number of over-runs required from print, and increase the operational life of tooling.
In hot foil stamping, Bobst unveiled the Expertfoil 142, a dedicated foil stamping press available in the size VI format.
For folding and gluing, Bobst has developed a new approach to processing cartons after the application of glue, which it says will reduce waste and improve the quality of the final product. For food packaging, the company showed advances in folding and gluing technology to help customers improve the on-machine performance of complex cartons such as crash-locks and 4/6 corner boxes. Bobst says these developments will deliver shorter set-up times, higher run speeds and reduced waste.
The company also had new developments for pharmaceutical packaging that extend the capabilities of in-line Braille application while further reducing set-up times, helping users to efficiently comply with the challenging legal and contractual requirements of this market, according to Bobst.
The company’s web-fed equipment, designed to improve productivity, ergonomics and sustainability in its customers’ printing and converting processes for flexible materials and folding carton also allows fast make-ready and changeover operations, according to Bobst.
For flexo printing, Bobst premièred the Fischer & Krecke 20SIX flexo press equipped with the latest smartGPSTM version, one of a platform of 20SIX solutions that can be customized to meet flexible packaging requirements and scale of production from long to very short jobs.
For gravure, Bobst displayed the Rotomec MW Minimised Waste press in a new configuration with internal washing dedicated to ultra-short run production and the Rotomec 4003HS press.
Bobst also showed its BST SL 1000 duplex laminator and its General Registron Hawkeye optical density and pinhole detector for metallised film. The system can be integrated into a metalliser control system.
