BJ Ball acquires Kirby Paper

BJ Ball  paper  marketing
BJ Ball has acquired Kirby Paper in a deal which will dramatically boost BJ Ball’s presence in the publication market. Kirby Paper, which was begun by Michael Kirby in 1991, is one of New Zealand’s leading importers of publication grade papers from countries such as Japan, Canada and Sweden.

The addition of these products to BJ Ball’s lineup will add considerable strength in a vital area.

“BJ Ball has a new management structure and a strategic plan to get involved in new sectors,” says BJ Ball’s CEO Andrew Bull. “The publication sector is an integral part of that plan.”

Bull describes it as a “natural fit” for both Kirby Paper and BJ Ball to join forces.

Michael Kirby will join BJ Ball as part of the deal, in what is seen as a significant move: “Mike Kirby has been a well-respected player in the market for many years, and his addition will bring extra strength to BJ Ball,” Bull says.

For Kirby’s existing customers, it will be business as usual: “We don’t see the company changing the way it operates,” Michael Kirby says. “However, it will now have access to more resources and backup which will allow it to expand much more rapidly.”

Kirby Paper will continue to operate as a separate business unit and Michael Kirby will continue to manage the business, reporting to Andrew Bull.

“Kirby Paper has a marvellous reputation and brand strength that will allow us immediate traction in the publication sector,” Bull says.

“We’re delighted to be able to announce the acquisition of Kirby Paper, which we believe will set us on a very positive path in the publication area.”
