According to Tony Dedda, managing director of Hannanprint, the commitment extends to the company's manufacturing facility, the surrounding environment and the ability of the company to contribute to the greater environment in which its products and operations extend.Dedda says, “From a Hannanprint customer perspective, benefits include the fact that they will be able to make on product claims in reference to the paper being sourced from responsibly managed forests and display either the FSC or PEFC logo, whichever is valid.”
He continues, “This measure may broadly support clients' corporate social responsibility objectives and more specifically assist in demonstrating the sound environmental credentials of Hannanprint clients.”
The company claims the FSC and the PEFC each provide a chain of custody certification scheme with the same goal – to promote responsible forest management.
Chain of custody refers to the path taken by wood fibre from the forest to the consumer, including all successive stages of processing, transformation, manufacturing and distribution. In a printing context, this is essentially about the traceability of paper through the supply chain from fully certified responsibly managed forests through to production at the designated printing plant, according to IPMG.
