ACCC cardboard case adjourned
The case against Visy Group over alleged price fixing has been adjourned in the Federal Court until February 20. The ACCC alleges that between 2000 and late 2004 Visy entered into and gave effect to anti-competitive arrangements with its principal competitor Amcor Ltd in the supply, throughout Australia, of corrugated fibreboard containers.
The ACCC announced immunity for Amcor in accordance with the terms of its Leniency Policy for Cartel Conduct. As part of the grant of its immunity, Amcor must continue to assist the ACCC in relation to its investigation and proceedings.
If found guilty by the ACCC, Visy faces penalties of up to $10m for each breach, and individuals can be penalised up to $500,000.
The case is being heard by Justice Peter Heery.
