Main board listing imminent for Tien Wah Press Holdings Bhd: focused on commercial printing and packaging manufacture, with overseas expansion plans on the drawing board

Listed Malaysian printing and packaging group, Tien Wah Press Holdings Bhd plans to transfer from the second board of the KLSE where it has been listed since August 2, 1996, to the main board by early October.

Tien Wah executive chairman, Tengku Tan Sri Mahaleel Tengku Ariff, says the move is part of the company’s plans for expansion overseas.

Speaking last week at an extraordinary general meeting of the company, he said Tien Wah has budgeted more than US$2.85m to invest in printing equipment this year in order to diversify its printing capacity to take advantage of business opportunities in the packaging and auto sectors.

Meanwhile, Tien Wah will spend up to US$1.14m to upgrade its existing equipment by the end of 2007.

Tien Wah Press Holdings Bhd is a holding company, whose interests include 100 per cent equity in printing and packaging firm, Tien Wah Press (Malaya) Sdn Bhd; 100 per cent of property holding company, Tien Wah Properties Sdn Bhd; 51 per cent of Paper Base Converting Sdn Bhd, a manufacturer and marketer of aluminium foil laminated paper and paperboard for cigarette, consumer and cosmetic packaging; and 30 per cent of Benkert (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, which manufactures printed and perforated papers used in the production of cigarette filters.

The group employs approximately 380 staff and is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur.
