KBA  ducation  product launch  printing - sheetfed

KBA has announced the publication of its latest book, titled Coating Sample Book – Technology by KBA, which is intended as a practical guide to reproducible finishing.

The company has aimed the book at sheetfed printers keen to raise their market profile with value added inline and offline coating effects. It contains an assortment of coating effects with instructions on how to achieve them, the press configurations required, and the materials used.

Weighing in at over one kilogram, the book includes 29 chapters on alternative coating processes and a total of 40 print and coating samples. The first chapters are devoted to high gloss UV coatings on hybrid inks, followed by various matt and special effect coatings, as well as contrasting matt/gloss effects using hybrid and drip-off techniques. It also features haptic effects such as soft touch and gentle touch, and different dual coating effects possible by combining various materials.

The book also explains the press equipment required, which can range form a five-colour press with one coater to highly specialised 14-unit presses with three coaters and four interdeck dryers. Each stage in production is described with the relevant aids and consumables.
