Dow Emulsion Polymers (DEP), a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company has announced a price increase of up to $600 per tonne for all styrene butadiene latex based emulsion products sold in India and the Middle East.
The company says the immediate price increase is in addition to previously announced actions and is critical to help offset the rising costs of transportation, raw materials and energy.
The increase is in addition to a June 1 decision to increase prices by up to 20 per cent globally for all latex emulsion products sold into the paper, flooring and performance latex segments.
Raynaud de Fitte, general manager of DEP says, “We are conscious of the challenges our customers also face with current industry dynamics, as every link of the value chain is affected to some degree in the pinch between big oil companies and consumers.”
De Fitte continues, “The reality is that the current environment is untenable and requires DEP to pass on the surging costs immediately.”
The company concludes the increases will help accelerate the recovery of continued rising costs of freight, hydrocarbons and raw materials such as benzene, styrene and butadiene used to manufacture DEP products.
