Müller Martini, whose head office is in Switzerland, will be at the heart of the Workflow Integration Centre in PrintCity’s Hall 1. The company will be demonstrating how its workflow integration solutions can be installed to create a complete workflow from prepress to finishing. In particular, Müller Martini will focus on the critical roles JDF and the Management Information System (MIS) have in a successful workflow solution. In the operational coupling via JDF, the MIS controls the entire job processing. It translates the technical data and makes it available for production via JDF for machine make-ready.

With a single command all machine-relevant data such as format, product thickness, top, bottom and front trimming, gripper type and position, run size and pagination are transmitted to the operator console and then to the post press equipment.

The JDF file sets up the post-press equipment automatically with AMRYS (Automatic Make Ready System). During production the machine status, speed, quantity produced and waste are reported to the MIS via JMF messages.

After finishing a job, commercial data is available on fingertip for invoicing and further calculations.

Gerhard Tschan, marketing manager, Müller Martini, says: “Good partnerships and networking is essential for effective workflow integration solutions. Amongst other things, it gives us a great opportunity to work with the members of PrintCity’s strategic alliance to show how machines from different suppliers can be successfully integrated into a workflow using a common interface. We look forward to further enhancing our relationships with the other suppliers and creating value for our customers and those of the other PrintCity members at Ipex.”

Müller Martini will be connecting their worldwide expertise in the Workflow Integration Centre with that of Optimus, a world-leading developer of print Management Information Systems, and One Vision, a multinational software company providing innovative, cost-effective software solutions designed to secure and optimise complex workflows in print and media production.

Rainer Kuhn, managing director of PrintCity, says: “As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of finishing equipment, we are delighted that Muller Martini will be sharing its vast experience and knowledge to add value for visitors to the Workflow Integration Centre. By connecting the company’s expertise in workflow management with other specialists such as Optimus, One Vision and MAN Roland, visitors can see how effective networking can result in a proven common solution, which could add value to their business.”

In addition to being part of PrintCity’s “Smarter PrintWorks”, is demonstrating innovations in Hall 5. Under its slogan – Creating Value – Müller Martini is presenting the advantages of a digital workflow on a PrimaPlus Amrys saddlestitcher. The demonstrations will include the production of the Müller Martini IPEX Special (A5 format) and IPEX Daily (A3 format), which includes a JDF link from the IPEX Daily stand.
