The Company

In January 1989 Alex and Yvonne Peters founded Alex Peters Machinery Ltd. The company was established with the sole aim of buying and selling second-hand printing and allied machinery. Alex has built up an impeccable background in machinery sales since then.

His is success is largely because he understands you - the printer, and your needs.

He can provide you with an honest and unbiased appraisal of your requirements because he is a printer himself!

And a pretty impressive printer at that! He was awarded the Apprentice of the Year Award in 1971 (NZ) and after that took up a position as a machinery representative with the New Zealand Heidelberg agents, with whom he later became the Auckland Manager. Nine years later he was the National Machinery Manager for the Komori agents in New Zealand where he introduced the Komori Lithrone series to the local market. In 1986, Alex was offered the NZ Managing Directorship of the Fuji Printing Press dealership where he introduced Fuji Printing Presses along with the range of Horizon Bindery and Itoh Guillotines as well as many items of finishing equipment into New Zealand.

The Next Step

With his diverse background in most types and brands of printing machinery, he saw there was a niche in the market for the skills he could offer the printer who wanted to purchase good, quality second hand machinery at a fair price.

Alex Peters Machinery Ltd grew to be one of the largest second-hand printing machinery dealers in Australasia.

Our stock holding in New Zealand consists of all major brands covering letterpress, small offset, large offset, guillotines and bindery equipment. In 1995 the company moved into our current premises in Henderson, Auckland, a move necessary due to the growth of the business and to ensure its continued expansion.

The amount of second-hand equipment we carry at any one time is now of such a magnitude that we have our own substantial premises to house it all. These premises consist of an Office/Showroom and an engineer’s paradise filled with varied machines, assembled and ready for viewing and sale. We have entertained visitors from India, Malaysia, Australia, Pakistan and Cyprus all benefiting from the convenience of having all available machinery under one roof.

An Integral Part

An integral part of our success is that we do not specialise in any one type of late model, second-hand machinery but have had many successful installations representative of all the major names in printing circles i.e. Heidelberg, Roland and Komori. This allows us to provide a non-biased point of view as to which machinery would best fulfill the needs of our individual customers.

We have resolutely fought off the the attraction of representing only one brand in our second-hand division.

We know our machinery and we know where to find that machinery.

We have extensive database of second-hand machinery available around the world which is updated daily. Our company adage is "If we don’t have the machine you want in stock, we can almost certainly get our hands on it" from any one of our many suppliers throughout the world.

Integrity

Alex has developed a solid relationship with some of the largest and most reputable second-hand machinery dealerships in the world. He deals with these companies on behalf of his clients both in New Zealand and internationally. Alex says his customers are looking for quality presses and are prepared to spend money to find the right machine - as a result they have to feel confident of his product knowledge and the integrity of his contacts.

Obviously Alex provides this confidence as he has established an impeccable reputation in print circles world-wide, his record of repeat business from satisfied customers speaks for itself.

The Future

In 2003 APM (New Zealand) Limited was formed. You can still expect from us the same great service and knowledge offered by Alex Peters Machinery Ltd., just under a new name. As well as our usual sourcing, purchase, shipping and installation services we are pleased to offer a new Brokerage service. Please feel free to ask us about this service.

Here at APM (New Zealand) Limited we are committed to you, the printer, and your needs. We have proven ourselves, both in reputation and longevity, internationally and locally, to be the Company to find your printing requirements.

We welcome any enquiries you may wish to make on a no obligation basis.
