W2P Case Study: Digital Synergy

Renee McInnes is one of the new breed of print entrepreneurs. Formerly selling finishing kit for PHE, seven years ago she started her own digital printing company – Digital Synergy – on the outskirts of Brisbane with a photocopier. Today that business has five staff, three digital printers and a wide format press, and is servicing a wide variety of clients

Like all successful entrepreneurs McInnes sees the need to stay one step ahead, and to keep close to her customers. This has led to the installation of the Pent Net web to print solution, in order to create a clear line between the company and its clients, as well as attracting new customers. McInnes says, “We now have our icon sitting on the desktop of our clients. If they want to order print they do it from their own office eon their own time. They know exactly what they are ordering, how much it will cost, and when it is going to be delivered. For us it makes our workflow simpler, eliminates mistakes, takes out costs, and has already led to us gaining one major new client.”

McInnes says, “We looked at this software for a long time, and really mulled over it for a long time. It has helped the business a great deal”

McInnes chose the Pent Net solution after meeting the company at PrintEx last year. She says, “They answered all my questions, were able to show me how clear and straightforward the system is. Since we have installed the system Pent Net has been as good as its word, and have met all our needs.”

Pent Net’s W2P is called Online Storefront, and its module leverages all the Pent Net functionality into a centralised online shopfront. The Online Storefront solution can be part of a printer’s own website. Debbie Ludwig from Pent Net says, “It allows you to upload your printed products online and categorise them for your clients. Your clients can receive instant proofs, order, pay by credit card (optional), and the system sends the print ready PDF directly to press, so there are no admin costs.” Pent Net’s solution provides online job quotes, print on-demand, re-orders, variable data, inventory management and order history. Ludwig says, “On the client side, Online Storefront can be a variable-data system that supplies numerous innovative means for placing orders as well as for approving and monitoring orders. On the printer side, Online Storefront is a full production and information management system as it allows you to choose the products offered, post content, manage pricing and monitor the volume and composition of orders.”
