This year’s Labelexpo Europe was a success for Raflatac with its new Pro Label promise and or UPM RafsecRaflatac had a strong showing, welcoming visitors from all over the world to its stand during the four-day event in Brussels, the biggest ever.
Raflatac’s theme at this year’s Labelexpo was the company’s new Pro Label promise. Raflatac’s core focus was on its expanding range of multifunctional filmic labelstocks for especially the personal care and beverage end-use segments.The opening keynote at the expo was presented by Thomas Rohweder, senior vice president, Raflatac Europe, who gave an overview of the current climate in the European label market.
Rohweder discussed brand owner packaging trends and requirements and focused on challenges as well as opportunities
for the industry’s growth and development.
At the press conference, Heikki Pikkarainen, president of UPM Labelstock business, announced Raflatac’s most recent investment to double the company’s films capacity in Europe by the full modernisation of the Tampere film lamination line.
Showcasing at the joint stand with Raflatac, UPM Rafsec demonstrated their latest RFID product innovations’ functionality and use at the Raflastudio. The RFID seminar hosted by UPM Rafsec attracted around 150 participants to learn, discuss and share experiences of working with RFID.
A leading RFID tag and inlay manufacturer, UPM Rafsec began operations at its new state-of-the-art RFID tag production facility in Fletcher, North Carolina (USA) ahead of schedule and is now supplying RFID tags to the company’s customers in North America. Ramp up of production was originally planned for the latter part of Q4 2005.
The tags are manufactured with UPM Rafsec’s innovative technology for volume production of EPC (electronic product code) compliant UHF tags. The high volume production technique provides UPM Rafsec with a significant advantage among suppliers of low-cost RFID tags.
