When Müller Martini released the 0459 three-knife trimmer, it wanted to show how manufacturers have risen to the challenge of meeting client’s needs in finishing
Müller Martini, the world’s largest producer of print finishing solutions for commercial and book printers, says the 0459 three-knife trimmer is the only one in its class that works with a new kind of product movement and front trim correction. The company says this how it guarantees first-class trim quality in all size ranges to its user and its extremely quick make ready times raise the bar of efficiency in finishing considerably. The requirements for printing and finishing have increased continuously over the past years. Shorter order deadlines, more complex products and alternating sizes bring new daily challenges, which the industry has to deal with. With the new 0459 three-knife trimmer Müller Martini intends making a significant contribution to more efficient and economic finishing and thus to the optimisation of costs.
Müller Martini says the machine guarantees first-class production quality in various sizes, and does this even at the highest processing speeds, and with the highest level of production reliability.
Uniform high trim quality
MÜLLER Martini claims a high level of flexibility as one of the strengths of the 0459 three-knife trimmer, saying it processes all product sizes, from minimum to maximum, without problems. Diverse trim variations such as center cut and split cut for two-up production, a trio cut device for three-up production, or different hole punching devices also increase its efficiency and flexibility within print production. A very precise trim counts as one of the most important characteristics of the product quality. The company also claims a uniformly high level of trim quality in all size ranges with a newly developed kind of product movement.
Automatic correction
USING state of the art electronics, each product is measured, as it enters the machine, and carefully lined up against the stops. This is how, at full speed, the three-knife trimmer can determine whether a product has entered on time. When there is a difference between the product width and the set value, it automatically makes a correction to the desired trim size when the nextwproducts are entering. In this way set-up times can be shortened, and trim waste can be enormously reduced when compared to conventional systems. Subsequent adjustments are made automatically without the need to stop the machine. Moreover, because of the unique trimming movement and the modern regulating technology, the stops for head and tail trim are also not needed. This translates into a further reduction of processing times.
Easy access
THE intelligent hood concept enables operators to view and access the trimming process. Integrated storage offers more functionality to help arrange tools conveniently. A motorised infeed, which is automatically set by the central controls, ensures quick changeover times. No additional parts are needed either in the in feed or in the three-knife trimmer for the controlled transport of the print products over the entire range of sizes. Ergonomic design principles lie at the heart of Müller Martini’s desire for practical design combined with innovative and original technology.
