Taking on a new business from a different part of the industry requires new knowledge and skills as Auckland company Green Grapics found when it expanded in 2007

INTENDING to complement its established printing and engineering operation Green Graphics, the Green family purchased Gibson Pacific in October 2007, renaming it Gibson Pacific Printing Supplies.

Gibson Pacific’s original owner, Rod Gibson, says he founded the company in 1973 from a need he identified for an independent consumable supplier that understood printer’s requirements, both large and small. Armed with knowledge gained from years within the industry, and an appreciation of printers’ needs, Gibson established business connections with overseas suppliers that remain strong.

He sold the business to Peter Meredith who, along with his daughter Lynette, continued the company’s expansion, bringing other supplier’s products onboard. When the Green family purchased the business, Lynette also joined them, becoming Gibson’s office manager.

Justin Green, director Green Graphics, says, “It would have been a chaotic move if Lynette hadn’t joined us as she knows the customers. She has a thorough understanding of their individual requirements and all the product codes.” Green says that as Gibson Pacific Printing Supplies continues to expand and make the required adjustments to succeed in a changing industry, it will also continue to source and supply quality, competitively priced, consumables to the sheetfed and web fed market.

He adds, “We are still in a big learning curve, which is why we are thankful for the help and support given by Peter”.
