Jenrite are focussed on supporting the large format digital printing market with a wide range of printers, software RIPs, colour management systems, print media, laminating systems, trimmers, cutters and displays. The wide range of products makes Jenrite an ideal one stop shop for large format imaging needs.
The most popular markets for their systems are photographic, proofing, copy centres, digital printers, and outdoor signage applications.
Most of their customers are in the on demand environment and deadlines seem to get tighter and tighter. The critical success factors for many of their large format printers are in order of importance – on time delivery and for this they need reliable bullet proof production. Secondly quality consistency and we stress consistency rather than high quality i.e. the same colour on the corporate logo as last time. Finally the third factor is price competitiveness by that they do not mean the cheapest but being in the pricing arena and obviously those that excel in the first two factors are more likely to command a better margin.
If you examine the first two success factors the selection of printer, software RIPs, colour management system and media play a big role. Reliable printing devices, good software RIPs, robust colour management systems and good quality media are essential.
If you have your head buried in an errant printer, or you have to play with ink limits because this roll of media is different than the last one then you are not spending time at the front end of your business where your future growth and profitability lies.
In reality media costs represent a small proportion of the final selling price. Cost savings are important to all businesses but value to the business should be the final criteria for media selection.
Jenrite has been very fortunate with the agencies it has secured although the selection has hinged on this value philosophy and every supplier is a leader in their respective fields.
Hewlett Packard, Agfa and Epson are quality brands that support Jenrite with superior printing systems.
Hewlett Packard water based printers have long dominated the print for pay market and their high speeds, superior productivity and legendary reliability makes them a popular choice. HP’s new solvent printers are proving very successful with the outdoor signage market providing the highest speeds and lowest cost per copy of any printer in their class.
HP have just announced a major technology breakthrough with Latex Printing Technology. Imagine a printing process that provided all the user friendliness, reliability and print quality of water based printing and combined it with the outdoor durability and low media cost associated with solvent or eco-solvent printing.
HP’s Latex Printing System will deliver the best of both worlds using a new water based printer and a new Latex ink technology. While the new technology will be launched in May at drupa it won’t be shipping until the end of this year and Jenrite look forward to introducing it to the NZ market.
Agfa have made a big investment into large format printers and they have achieved spectacular international sales with their Anapurna range of UV curable flatbed printers.
Jenrite have also enjoyed considerable success in the local signage industry with Agfa’s Anapurnas. drupa will also be a focus for Agfa with the release of several new flatbed models.
The Epson name has been synonomous with high print quality for many years and Jenrite offer the new X880 range including the new 64” wide 11880 model. You can have the best printer but if you don’t invest in a good software and support you won’t allow that printer to reach its full potential. Jenrite represents Onyx and Caldera. Onyx are the RIP supplier preferred by many of the giants of the print industry including HP, Scitex, Seiko-I Infotech, Agfa, Kodak, Colorspan, Avery, Ilford, Mutoh, and Raster Printers. Caldera offers an excellent software alternative especially for those wishing to work in a Mac or Linux environment.
Colour management in the New Zealand large format industry is generally poor. The “near enough” attitude prevails too often, there is little investment in colour management systems with time consuming trial and error proofing being the norm. Jenrite has been on a colour management crusade for some years and it is pleasing to see some change in attitude. The ability to provide predictable and reproducible colour is not difficult and it is interesting to see an apparent correlation between good colour management, and strong business growth from many of our converts. Good colour management systems are neither expensive nor time consuming.
X-Rite is renowned for quality colour management systems and they provide Jenrite with a range of colour management options.
One of the keys to Jenrite’s success has been the strength of its inkjet media agencies with world leading manufacturers including Sihl, Neschen and Metamark.
quality, value and range of media available from Sihl’s Swiss and German plants have proved enormously popular with the New Zealand market. Whether your need is for a solvent backlit media, an all purpose microporous photo paper or a high quality fine art media Sihl has a quality solution available that always represents great value. Sihl’s range of proofing medias provide excellent quality at remarkable value.
Neschen media from Germany provide great options especially in solvent printable textile substrates.
The print quality of Metamark solvent printable self adhesive vinyls is second to none and their extensive product range includes economic promotional vinyls up to fully conformable cast vinyls.
Jenrite is the largest supplier of display systems to the large format printing market and has been at the forefront of the global transition to China as the major supplier of display equipment.
