Privately owned Seaga Group has become one of the country’s biggest consumables suppliers with a huge range of products for the printing, packaging, diemaking and digital sectors
Seaga Group is an Australian owned and operated company specialising in consumables supply to the printing, packaging, diemaking and digital industries. Seaga Group started life twenty years ago as Seaga Pty Ltd, a one stop supply shop for printers and prepress houses in Sydney. Since then rapid expansion has seen the company open branches in Melbourne, Victoria and Adelaide, South Australia with affiliates in Western Australia and Queensland. In the year 2000 after many years as a successful joint venture with Kodak (Aust), the company was purchased by Die Rule Supply, a major supplier to the packaging industry, and Seaga became Seaga Group.
Seaga Group is arguably the only dealership in Australia who covers all facets of the printing industry, being prominent suppliers to the prepress, printing and packaging sectors. Seaga Group has an enviable list of clientele and supplies consumables to the majority of printers and finishing houses right across its three key states.
Managing director and owner Tony Foley says, “One of our strengths is that we supply everything. This is particularly beneficial to the smaller companies, because it means that they have one point of contact for all their consumables needs, one set of paperwork, one set of time spent thinking about consumables. This makes it very easy for the customer.”
Seage supplies blankets, inks and chemicals for printers, dies and forms for packagers, complete prepress solutions included bundled packages of CTP, software, plates and proofing. Foley says, “We deal direct with the manufacturer in almost all cases, which means very competitive prices for our customers, and it means they have a direct line to the producer, for feedback.”
In common with the industry trend Seaga is seeing an increasing demand for environmentally friendly printing, Foley says, “The Thermal Direct plate from Kodak is proving particularly popular, as there is no processing, which cuts down time, cost and waste, a great benefit to printers.”
Foley says, “It is the combination of the right consumables at the right price with a commitment to service and good relationship that have been the hallmarks of the Seaga success story. Our customers know they can rely on us and in turn we rely on their support. By forming good relationships with our suppliers we are able to access their specific knowledge and resources and in turn better assist our customers with any technical issues or problems they may have.”
